Since I am no longer a freshmen student, I’d like to share some of my personal insights or tips that are based on my personal experience. Yes, college is really different from high school. I hope these will help you on your first week or month as a college student.
1. Try doing some research – When I saw my block in my assessment,
I decide to search it on twitter and facebook. At first, I was really hopeless,
but luckily, I was able to find my block mates through social media. My goal
was: I just wanted to have some idea who’ll be around me for almost 5 months
and not to be a loner in our first day of school! Haha! Funny but I know every freshman
feels the same way right now…
2. Always be on time – My first class was 7:00am and from
Cavite to Manila, it wasn't really easy for me. I was always late back then. I
never thought that it’ll be the reason for me to have a failing grade. I really
felt so hopeless that time that I might not be able to pass the subject. But
through self-discipline, I was able to pass the subject!!! (And yes, it was
English! 5 units to be exact.)
3. Be friendly – Help yourself! Always smile and be open to
meet new friends. Want a tip? Do not stick to one friend but too many!! Because
you have no clue what will happen in the future. Agree? Do not trust someone so
easily and do not judge a person as long as you haven’t talked to them. Because
sometimes, the person you hate the most is the one who truly understands and
cares for you.
4. Know you limits! – My friends and I loves to hang out but
we always make sure to focus more in our studies. Also, having a boyfriend is a
NO-NO! to some. Yes! It’s cool to have a
partner but you must really know your limits! Why? Because it’s really annoying
to see someone who focuses more in love than you school!
5. Trust yourself – We all know that college life is really
stressful but it is worth it! All those sleepless nights and unending stress is
a challenge. If you fail, smile and be better! Trust yourself in everything
that you do!
Thank you for the tips! My son will a junior in high school next year and he gets up everyday at 6am. He doesn't like it, but he never complains and I only have to tell him one time to get up. 7am for a first class is really hard especially something like English. Glad you passed!
ReplyDeleteAw! Yes, even my friends experienced the same thing but we're able to overcome it! :)
DeleteOn being yourself, it's good not to flaunt what you don't have - like don't buy many clothes just because you don't want others to see how you repeatedly wear the pieces you have. School is about learning anyway.
ReplyDeleteI agree ate. :)
DeleteBeing friendly is important. A smile can open so many doors!
ReplyDeleteThat's so true!
Deletewow nice post.
ReplyDeleteMy blog new post click & comment
Thanks for the visit!
DeleteThose are definitely some great tips! Another one I'd love to add: start those projects on time, better to be prepared than have too little time when the deadline is near
ReplyDeleteSo true!! Thanks x
DeleteKnowing your limits is a key! It is easy to over extend yourself and not be able to say no.
ReplyDeleteAh, I remember my first year! I had a blast - met really great people that I'm still friends with and also did really well in my courses. Your tips are great, and I would add that you should be open to experiences. Don't turn anything down (well, within reason) because you never know what you might discover about yourself or the world!
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding that hihi
DeleteI guess I have to invest on trusting myself. And this is not only true for Freshmen, I think this is applicable to everybody who want to venture on a new journey in life. These are all great and useful tips
ReplyDeleteGreat tips! Oh, yes, education is the key. I squander my college with parties. So regret. You got a good head on your shoulders and keep smiling

ReplyDeleteYes! I totally agree
DeleteI think it's hard not to date in college, it's such a social arena. I do see the academic perks of skipping the dating scene though!
ReplyDeleteMe too. It's okay to date but never forget what's your priority. I had a blockmate just like that and it was annoying
DeleteThese are great tips! If I were a freshman, I would need your 2nd tip "always be on time" because I was always late lol. I feel like time and I aren't close friends at all.lol.

DeleteIf I have these tips 3 years back, I wouldn't be so stressful during my first sem.
ReplyDeleteHahaha thanks! x
DeleteI think one of the mistake I made when I started college was I took on too much all at once. So knowing your limits when it comes to hanging out or the amount of class you take is a very good tip for sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThanks for the tips! I remember my college days :D haven't done the no. 1 tho :D
ReplyDeletethanks ate
DeleteThese are great tips. Thanks for sharing. Key is to trust yourself
ReplyDeletethanks too
DeleteThose are very useful tips and I can add this one too, avoid being inferior and master being different because this is also one of the most common problem of a freshman college.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI hear what you're saying but knowing your limits can be just as inhibiting. Limits in terms of right and wrong are oh so important. But when it comes to limits of potential, possibility, and the sorts .... that's crushing. Back when I was in the film industry, I was pitching my script to get it made into a movie. They told me my idea was too ambitious and funded something that takes place in outer space instead. How mad is that. I'm glad they turned it down actually, now I'll get to write it on my own terms. So I guess what I am saying is careful to which kinds of limits you're subscribing.
ReplyDeleteDon't act like a froshie :)
ReplyDeleteLol, I don't get it sorry
DeleteGreat poster and great advice. I got no advice as an incoming Freshman back in the day. I really could have used some. Great blog
